So, this week I am going to post excerpts around each of the pivotal characters in my upcoming book. The first here concerns our heroin and her brother. Keysa and Kalin are the two key players here.
She grabbed her brother’s arm. “Kalin wait. Where are we going?”She held on to his arm tightly.
“We can circle around him and take him from behind.”
“What?” she was shocked. “You don’t want to try and talk to him?”
“Keysa, they had me in a cage, they interrogated me. No, I don’t want to talk to him.”
The look in Kalin’s eyes was pure anger. She had never seen her brother this angry before. Well, maybe the time she had pushed him into the river. She couldn’t really blame him though. They had held him prisoner and questioned him but if there was a chance to learn more about these humans she wanted to do it. There was something about this man that fascinated her, for some reason she felt like smiling whenever she looked at him.
Kalin was giving her a strange look, “Why are you just staring at me?”
“I’m waiting for you to come to your senses. Look Kalin, even if these men are just trouble we should learn all we can about them. We can interrogate him, but without putting him in a cage.”
Kalin nodded, “I don’t trust him but for once I agree with you.”
“Actually that’s the second time you’ve agreed with me now.” She grinned at her brother and gave him a mock punch in the arm.
